Gili Lankanfushi Maldives has announced plans to reopen on December 1 after a major rebuilding project following a fire incident.
The award-winning luxury resort, owned and operated by Singapore-based Hotel Properties Limited (HPL), closed in January after a major fire destroyed a large portion of the resort’s facilities, including at least seven overwater villas and a restaurant. No one was injured in the fire, as guests and staff were evacuated and taken to neighbouring resorts.
In an announcement, Gili Lankanfushi said rebuilding of the resort is underway. The resort will reopen on December 1, it added.
“Kickoff your Gili Adventure with a festive reunion on our little island of Robinson Crusoe and countdown to the New Year at this timeless haven, surrounded by white powdery beach and sparkling turquoise lagoon within a sustainable environment,” the announcement read.
“We look forward to your arrival at Gili Lankanfushi – A sanctuary hidden from the world.”
Set on the private island of Lankanfushi in the North Male Atoll, Gili Lankanfushi Maldives is an intimate coral island in a sparkling lagoon, with jetties threading across the water out to spacious villa accommodations, where ultimate privacy can be found. This luxury resort is just a 20-minute speedboat ride from the main Velana International Airport.
At Gili Lankanfushi, an idyllic personal hideaway is a spacious, rustic overwater villa crafted from natural wood and glass. A palette of sparkling blues paints the horizon, the ocean stretching to infinity wherever on the island. The open design, with indoor and outdoor living space, allows guests the freedom to be themselves, the sound of the sea and warm breeze soothing all senses.
