Thailand’s premier property development company Singha Estate on Wednesday announced a deal with Best Dives Maldives to provide dive and water sports services at its upcoming Crossroads integrated tourism destination in the Maldives.

Under the agreement signed by Singha Estate’s Chief Operating Officer Thiti Thongbenjamas and Best Dives’ General Manager Eric van Melis at a ceremony held at Crossroads project site Wednesday afternoon, Best Dives will provide scuba diving, motorised and non-motorised water sports activities, and various excursions that showcase the natural beauty of the Maldives both above and underwater.

“When we first heard of the Crossroads project, we thought this is going to be a remarkable project and the first of its kind in the Maldives. Naturally, the first thing that comes to mind is that we need to be a part of this,” Eric said.

Best Dives will also appoint a dedicated marine biologist to lead a coral regeneration project at the Maldives first and largest integrated tourism destination.

“Singha Estate and Best Dives have shared values. We believe in redefining the Maldives’ tourism experience. We believe that we will be able to achieve something that could transform the tourism industry in the Maldives. Once the Crossroads project opens its doors to guests, it will attract a new generation of travellers and a new market segment that will bring in an exciting business opportunity for all of us here in the Maldives,” Thiti, who also serves as the Chief Investment Officer at Singha Estate, said.

Best Dives, a multi-centre dive and water sports operator based in resorts across six atolls, was founded in 2003. The company has grown to operate dive and water sports centres, excursions and luxury yacht charters at several luxury resorts across the Maldives, including Jumeirah Vittaveli, Centara Grand Island Resort, Centara Ras Fushi Island Resort and Spa, Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, and Fushifaru Maldives.

As part of its CSR programme, Best Dives leads a coral restoration project together with the resorts it operates in. The company is also affiliated with Green Fins, the only recognised environmental set of standards with a comprehensive management approach to providing guidance and support to business owners and national authorities in order to promote best practices.

Developed by Singha Estate, Crossroads spans nine islands in the Emboodhoo Lagoon and will have a plethora of dining, retail, entertainment, recreational and leisure-lifestyle offerings, including a 50-berth marina. In addition to a Hilton’s Curio Collection resort, which will be set exclusively on one of the islands within the integrated destination, Crossroads will also be home to Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and Hard Rock Cafe Maldives — the first development in the Maldives by world-class entertainment and lifestyle brand Hard Rock International.

With its close proximity of a 15-minute boat ride from the Maldives main Velana International Airport and capital Male, Crossroads aims to captivate leisure travellers and family markets with a development spanning nine islands, boasting 1,300 rooms and a retail space of over 11,000 square metres.

The project’s leisure and entertainment hub, The Township will house a variety of international restaurants, retail outlets, a world-class wellness spa, a Maldives Discovery Centre with coral preservation and coral propagation activities, a diving centre, a multi-purpose hall, a kids club, and a cultural centre. World-renowned partners at the Township include Hard Rock Café Maldives, Café del Mar, and two of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Ministry of Crab and Nihonbashi.
