Universal’s newest resort Faarufushi Maldives to open in December

Faarufushi Maldives, the latest addition to the portfolio of premier local resort group Universal Resorts, is set to open in December.

Set on the private island of Faarufushi in the northern Raa atoll, the brand new resort will be accessible by a 40-minute flight from the main Velana International Airport to the domestic airport on the island of Ifuru in the atoll, followed by a short 10-minute speedboat ride.

With 80 villas, including 10 Beach Bungalows (112 sqm), 27 Beach Retreats with Pool (192 sqm), 39 Ocean Retreat with Pool (150 sqm), three Ocean Suite with Pool (227 sqm) and one Island Residence (375 sqm), Faarufushi will be a place where guests feel cocooned and indulged; an intimate, perfectly private haven that feels like it was made for them.

Guests will be able to dine at the all-day dining Iru restaurant, Eclipse overwater restaurant or Athiri speciality restaurant, while cocktails and light bites will be served at the main Sangu bar or overwater Boli bar. Half board and ‘dine around all-inclusive’ plans will be offered.

Faarufushi will also offer a wide array of recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, a spa and a fitness centre. A fully equipped water sports and dive centre will also be on the island, with guests offered complementary kayaks and paddle boards as well as snorkelling equipment and house reef tours.
