Michelin-starred chef Paul Walsh is set to visit The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort as a guest chef in February for a full weekend.

The Executive Chef at one Michelin star City Social in London invites guests at the luxury private island resort to join him for a dinner on February. The five-course tasting menu will be served from 7.30pm at Alba Restaurant.

Paul will also host an engaging cooking class the next day, from 11.30am until 1pm at Alba Restaurant. This is guaranteed to be a fun and interactive session for vacationers, especially those who have an interest in culinary skills.

“We are thrilled to host Paul Walsh at the resort. We are honoured to have a chef of his calibre cook and dine at our restaurants. Our team and guests will surely learn a lot of culinary tricks from Paul during his stay,” Alexander Blair, General Manager at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, was quoted in an announcement, as saying.

Paul Walsh earned a Michelin star for City Social in London during its first year in 2014, retaining it four consecutive times. Regarded in Britain as one of the top restaurants, City Social opened to wide acclaim as a new Jason Atherton addition and it was one of the youngest ever restaurants to receive a Michelin star.

At only 18, Paul started his training as a Second Commis Chef at the world renown Savoy Hotel under Anton Edelmann, where he learned the art of cooking refined and flavoursome food. He then moved to The Savoy Grill when it reopened under the direction of Marcus Wareing, and helped it achieve a Michelin star, soon to be recognised as one of London’s finest upcoming chefs.

In 2005, Walsh progressed in his career to Sous Chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay working with Chef Mark Askew, Simone Zanoni and Clare Smyth, and departing as Senior Sous Chef. In 2010, Walsh opened three “28/50 Wine Workshop and Kitchen” sites across London as Head Chef.

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is nestled on a private island in the secluded Dhaalu atoll, amidst thriving marine life. Just 40 minutes from the main Velana International Airport by seaplane, guests are transported to a newfound paradise.

Designed with great respect to its natural surroundings, the resort is surrounded by a large house reef and the island is defined by several distinct ecological areas: lagoon, beach coastal and jungle. At The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, guests have the luxury of staying in one of the 77 island and overwater villas, shrouded in lush tropical flora, each with a private pool.

There are six distinct dining venues, including an Asian specialty restaurant, a modern Italian restaurant that features a grand staircase, an underground wine cellar restaurant, a shack style restaurant, a signature overwater bar that rolls out stunning views of dramatic sunset, and a pop-up restaurant in the middle of the resort.

Additionally, guests can also enjoy the Iridium Spa, which presents six overwater treatment rooms, including two that are dedicated to healing Ayurvedic treatments. Spa guests can also enjoy a Blue Hole pool, which contains heated seawater with different water jets – a system with proven benefits to the body.
