Over 1,000 employees of a major Chinese mobile internet company are holidaying in the Maldives.
The employees of Fuaibao Commerce and Trade, one of the largest companies in China that trade on the popular WeChat platform, arrived in the Maldives Sunday afternoon along with their Chairman Xia Baoping, and Founder and CEO Fuyuming. They were given a warm welcome at the Maldives main Velana International Airport.
They later travelled to LUX* South Ari Atoll for their vacation.
“This will be a huge promotion for the Maldives, as this trip is being covered on WeChat as well,” a local agent involved in arranging the trip told local news website Avas Online.
Founded in 2014, Fuaibao has become a major mobile internet company in China. With five logistic centres, the company markets and sells some 10 brands on WeChat.
As a reward to its employees, Fuaibao launched its global holiday tour in 2014, and has since taken them to countries such as Phuket, Maldives, China, Japan, Australia and Dubai.
Maldives ranks amongst the most favoured holiday destinations for Chinese travellers, but the Chinese market has posted major declines over the past year. Arrivals from China, which still remains the single biggest source market, has dropped 10.3 percent in the first half of this year to reach 141,495 from 157,764 in the same period of last year.
