Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has brought in a team of influencers from Turkey, as part of the official tourism promotion body’s series of familiarisation trips to promote Maldives.

Mehmet Kırali and Çiler Geçici, who have years of experience in photography and jointly have over a million followers, arrived in the Maldives on Tuesday.

During their week-long stay in Maldives, they will experience two resorts and a guesthouse: Kihaa Maldives, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, and Kiha Beach guesthouse.

Their experiences will be shared via social media and the coverage is expected to create even more awareness about the Maldives in the Turkish travel market.

“With a joint count of over a million followers on social media, the influencers are expected to position Maldives as a holiday gem with new experiences for consumers in Turkey,” a statement issued by MMPRC read.

A total of 117,619 tourists visited the Maldives from Turkey in the first nine months of the year.

MMPRC regularly hosts a destination stand at EMITT, one of the leading platforms for Turkish and global travel trade.

“Activities are also carried out by MMPRC in small markets such as Turkey aside from rigorous campaigns in key traditional markets, all of which is pivotal in achieving the milestone of the 1.5 millionth tourist this year,” the statement read.

MMPRC kicked off the series of familiarisation trips in April, starting with a team of Indian journalists and bloggers. The official tourism promotion entity has so far brought in teams from the UKChina and South KoreaAustraliaFrance and Belgium, as well as countries from Eastern Europe.
