Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) has conducted several activities to celebrate World Tourism Day 2019.
Among the activities, conducted in association with the Maldives Police Service and Housing Development Corporation (HDC), were water sports activities such as a canoe race where 18 teams competed. A food tasting session was also held where nine guesthouses presented their culinary specialities including varieties of both local and international cuisine.
Dive Club Maldives also arranged a bubble maker dive for kids, which saw the participation of 27 kids of 5 to 12 years old.
All the events took place at Hulhumale beach area on September 28.
GAM says that the event was a success with support from a number of tourists and locals residing in Hulhumale.
GAM was established in 2014 when a group of establishment owners got together to promote the local tourism industry. They continue to help guesthouses in the Maldives in a bid to develop local island tourism in the Maldives.
