A team of journalists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have arrived in Maldives on a familiarisation trip organised by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
This is the third group of journalists visiting the Maldives through the series of fam trips organised by MMPRC to promote Maldives tourism.
Until June 1, the team of journalists will be exploring the undiscovered side of Maldives — local island life and Maldivian culture — as well as the underwater beauty of Maldives. They will be staying at Guraidhoo Palm Inn hosted by Secret Paradise, Liyela Retreat, Kuramathi Maldives, and The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives.
The team consists of journalists from Reiselust Austria, Schwaebische Zeitung, Bold the Magazine, Westfaelischer Anzeiger, and freelance journalist Dr Bernd Kregel. They will write articles based on their time and experience in Maldives for their respective publications.
Germany is a major source market of tourists to the Maldives. Based on the arrival figures from January to March, Germany is ranked third amongst the highest performing source markets, accounting for 7.7 per cent of the total market share. During this period, tourist arrivals from Germany were recorded to be 37,279, an increase of 13.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Austria and Switzerland are ranked in the 10th and 12th position respectively amongst the highest performing source markets.
MMPRC kicked off the series of familiarisation trips in April, starting with a team of Indian journalists and bloggers. Early this month, a team of journalists from the UK was also brought in as part of the fam trips.
