Four Seasons Resort Maldives has launched its exclusive seaplane, the Flying Triggerfish.

Taking to the skies, the world-exclusive Flying Triggerfish is the first customised DHC-6-300 Twin Otter airplane by Four Seasons, and one of the most luxurious and Instagrammable seaplanes ever to grace the Maldivian skies.

Sink into one of eight extra-wide VIP Muirhead leather seats. Take-off and land on water in exhilarating style piloted by experts from Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator. And with flights cruising at just 3500 feet, marvel in comfort at the Maldives’ pearl-like islands during airport transfers to and from Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, private charters, island-hopping excursions and seaplane ‘surfaris’.

“We wanted to design a plane that celebrates the vibrancy of our destination. The Flying Triggerfish offers seamless Four Seasons service and style from the moment guests arrive, in a unique and exciting way,” Armando Kraenzlin, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives’ Regional Vice President, was quoted in a statement, as saying.

Inspired by the colourful Picasso triggerfish found in Maldivian waters, the private plane is completely customised inside and out, from luxuriously refurbished floor, ceiling and sidewalls to an enhanced Garmin 950NXi avionics suite. With half the number of seats of a commuter seaplane, guests can stretch out in comfort and enjoy Four Seasons amenities such as noise-cancelling headphones.

The Flying Triggerfish is one of two seaplane transfer options available to guests of Landaa Giraavaru, which is located in Baa atoll – the Maldives’ only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – a 35-minute flight from the island nation’s main Velana International Airport.

In addition to the Flying Triggerfish, the resort utilises the services of TMA’s 14-seat seaplanes. Regardless of their choice, guests will be greeted by Four Seasons representatives and escorted to the seaplane check-in. For added convenience, opt to complete Immigration formalities in the comfort of Velana International Airport’s CIP Lounge.

Flying Triggerfish transfers are available to book per person per way or as private customised charters for up to eight persons. Private charters include CIP services. Island-hopping excursions and seaplane ‘surfaris’ are also available.

Combining innovation, wellness and conservation, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is a 44-acre, 103-villa wonderland in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve — a 30-minute seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport.

Its sister property, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa lies to the south: an enchanting garden island complete with Island Spa sea sanctuary and Tropicsurf coaches and guides. It features 96 thatched beach and water accommodations constructed by local craftsmen using indigenous materials and techniques to reflect a true sense of the Maldives.

The luxury catamaran Four Seasons Explorer connects the two properties via three, four and seven-night cruises, plus private leisure, surf and manta ray charters.

The latest addition to the Maldives collection, Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah, Baa Atoll opened in 2016 as the group’s first exclusive-use private island: off limits to everyone else, limitless to the guests.
