UI Hotels have announced a bold step of stopping the use of single-use plastic in their entire operation.
Moosa Nasih, the Managing Director of UI Hotels, said single-use plastic bottles, straws, bags and other items are now banned from its hotel and restaurants. Solar panels are also being installed to run the hotel using clean energy, he added.
“We’ve been planning for this for quite some time now. Being an environment-friendly operation is one of our major goals,” Nasid said.
UI Hotels have also established a water purification system to provide safe and clean drinking water to their guests. Reusable glass bottles are used.
Located in the satellite town of Hulhumale, UI Hotels are about 10 minutes’ drive from the main Velana International Airport.
