Ace Travels Maldives has been appointed the new General Sales Agent (GSA) for Cathay Pacific in Maldives.
At a ceremony held at Ace Travels offices in capital Male Sunday morning, Vishnu Rajendran, the Country Lead for Sri Lanka and Maldives at Cathay Pacific, said Ace Travels was chosen after a rigorous vetting process early this year. Through the expertise of Ace Travels, Cathay Pacific would be able to strengthen its position in the Maldives and expand its customer base, he added.
“This is a special year for us. We began operations to the Maldives in October 2013. This year, we’ll be celebrating five years of service to the Maldives, which is an important milestone for us,” Vishnu said.
Mohamed Firaq, the Managing Director of Ace Travels, said the addition of Cathay Pacific would help expand the company’s vision of providing world-class options to travellers to and from the Maldives.
“We started at a very small scale and now we’ve expanded to serve all the major airlines operating in the Maldives. It’s my hope that we’ll be able to welcome more airlines to our family,” he said.
Cathay Pacific operates a non-stop, four days a week service from Hong Kong International Airport to the Maldives main Velana International Airport.
With a fleet of 146 wide-body aircraft, the flagship carrier of Hong Kong serves 80 destinations (including cargo) in 46 countries and territories on five continents, with a well-developed Asian network. The airline is in the process of getting new A350 jets in an effort to expand its services to destinations such as Washington DC in the US, Cape Town in South Africa and Brussels in Belgium.
Ace Travels Maldives is a joint venture between Inner Maldives Holidays, one of the leading Destination Management Companies (DMCs) in the Maldives, and Aitken Spence Travels, the leading DMC in Sri Lanka. In addition to being the the Passenger Sales Agent (PSA) for SriLankan Airlines and General Sales Agent (GSA) for Scoot, Ace Travels handles several other major airlines and provides hotel packages.
