First batch of trainees has completed the ‘Kurimagu’ management training programme conducted by Adaaran Resorts Maldives.
Seven out of the nine participants that completed the ‘Kurimagu’ (meaning Future in local Dhivehi language) programme were awarded certificates at a ceremony held at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi Monday evening. Dr Mariyam Shakeela, CEO of local conglomerate SIMDI Group, handed over the certificates to Shazeem Ali, Bassam Abdul Razzaq, Ibrahim Gashshaan, Aishath Sama Waheed, Ahmed Sofwan, Ahmed Shahudh and Mohamed Nooman.
From the seven graduates, Shazeem was recognised as the Most Outstanding Student and the Best Sustainability Project, while Bassam won the Most Promising Personality award. Gashshaan received an award for the Most Outstanding Assignment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director Product Development at Adaaran Hemantha Ratnayake said participants of the 15-month programme were exposed to several aspects of the hospitality industry. It was aimed at familiarising them with the potential challenges in their career, he added.
“In addition to the firsthand experience of the various departments of a hotel they got during the programme, they also had knowledge sharing sessions with the Chief Operating Officer and the executive management team of Adaaran,” Ratnayake said.
Meanwhile, certificates were also awarded to the graduates of a separate Adaaran Executive Development Programme.
L.P.V. Praveen, Ajnin Reji, Chelliah Subramanian, Vikash Kumar and Nilesh Sharma completed the programme. Praveen was also recognised as the Most Outstanding Student, while Ajnin won the Most Promising Personality award.
At Monday’s ceremony, Adaaran also recognised the top performing employees from each of its resorts.
Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, Chairman of SIMDI Group, conferred the Employee of the Year 2017 award to Hussain Ameen Abdulla from Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi, Peththa Handige Pragnasena from Adaaran Prestige Vaadoo, Mohamed Ali from Adaaran Select Meedhupparu, and Hassan Waleed from Adaaran Club Rannalhi.
