Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) has hosted the latest edition of SABA International Butler Academy’s butler training programme.

Twelve HIH team members enthusiastically attended the six-day course and played host to the trainer and principal Newton Cross. Additionally, 16 butlers from various resorts across the Maldives also took part in the course.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, HIH General Manager Utkarsh Faujdar congratulated the trainer and his students for completing the course, and emphasised the need for constant training in order to improve the skills of Maldivian employees. He mentioned that HIH has always been at the forefront of supporting such training and development initiatives, and would continue to play a vital role in training local employees.

“This is another effort from Hulhule Island Hotel to further enhance the service levels with such training programmes, conducted frequently for the team members,” HIH said, in a statement.

The butler training course, which was launched in the Maldives in 2016, focuses on these elements: body language and etiquette, language skills, guest interaction and professional behaviour, butler skills, rooming orientation, sharing stories, creating a mindful experience for guests, using international cultural interaction methods, creating a wow impression, signature services of a resort butler, and selling techniques.

SABA is a member of the International Advisory Board of International Butler Training Standards, a global network of experts with integrity, value and taste who have agreed to give the foundation meaningful input on a regular basis in many different areas.
