Maldives has showcased its tourism products at the OneWorld Travel Mart (OTM) 2018, India’s largest travel trade show.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with 23 representatives from 15 companies from the tourism industry of Maldives are representing the destination from Thursday to Saturday in Mumbai, India.
“Maldives is focusing on showcasing the various aspects of the destination appealing to the Indian traveller,” MMPRC said, in a statement.
Over 1,300 exhibitors from 60 countries took part in OTM 2017. More than 14,000 trade professionals visited the fair, including 4,000 qualified buyers, 445 travel trade buyers, and 129 corporate buyers of business and MICE.
According to the organisers of OTM, these numbers are expected to increase this year.
The Indian market has continued to record positive growth in arrivals, climbing up to the fifth position in terms of tourist arrivals to the Maldives. According to official figures, 70,372 arrivals from India were recorded from January to November 2017 — a massive growth of 22.9 percent compared to the same period in 2016.
