AVANI Hotels and Resorts has named Daniel Kipping as director of sales for all the group’s regional brands, including its upcoming resort in the Maldives.
From the group’s regional office in Bangkok, Kipping will direct sales for 18 properties in 12 countries. He will also manage pre-opening sales strategies for a pipeline of new hotels due to open in the next three years in Southeast Asia, New Zealand, UAE, Australia, Maldives and Africa.
“With his extensive experience in property specific and regional sales, Daniel is the ideal candidate to increase revenues and boost bookings for AVANI,” Alejandro Bernabé, AVANI Hotels and Resorts’ Vice President of Operations, was quoted in a statement, as saying.
Prior to this appointment, Kipping held senior positions with hospitality operators in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton.
AVANI has recently announced the development of its first property in the Maldives, with the AVANI Fares Maldives Resort scheduled to open in late 2019.
The USD 70 million joint venture partnership between Thailand-based Minor Hotel Group and Cyprea Group will see the development of an upscale resort on the island of Fares in central Baa atoll, which is accessible by either a 45-minute seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport or by a domestic flight to the airport on the nearby Dharavandhoo island followed by a further 30-minute speedboat ride.
AVANI Hotels and Resorts was launched in 2011 by Minor Hotel Group as a sister brand to Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas, which currently operates three resorts in the Maldives; Anantara Veli Maldives Resort and Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort in South Male Atoll, and Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas in the Baa atoll. Additionally, Minor separately runs Naladhu Private Island Maldives in the South Male Atoll and Niyama Maldives Private Islands in Dhaalu atoll.
