Soneva Jani on Monday donated essential items to a local school.
At an event held at the Noonu Atoll School in the nearby island of Manadhoo to mark the World Children’s Day, Soneva Jani General Manager Andrew Whiffen handed over the donation of books and sports equipment to the school’s principal Abdulla Esa.
Ahmed Shahid, the Human Resources Manager at Soneva Jani, said the donation was part of the resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Similar donations would be made to the school every fiscal quarter after evaluating the needs of the students and requirements of the management, he added.
“We’re also building a badminton court at the school. It will be completed by the end of the week,” Shahid said.
In addition to the donation, officials from Soneva Jani also briefed the students about tourism and hospitality.
Opened in December 2016, Soneva Jani is leading luxury resort operator Soneva’s newest property and its second resort in the Maldives.
