World Travel Awards (WTA) on Friday announced local telecom giant Dhiraagu as a sponsor of the upcoming Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2017.
In a statement, WTA President and Founder Graham Cooke welcomed Dhiraagu as a partner.
“As the first Maldivian telecommunications company, Dhiraagu offer a comprehensive range of mobile, internet, data and fixed line services throughout the Maldives and we’re proud to be associated with them,” he was quoted in the statement, as saying.
Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Marketing Communications and Public Relations Manager at Dhiraagu, said Dhiraagu’s involvement in the awards is part the company’s efforts to support and celebrate the tourism industry in Maldives. Dhiraagu continues to provide digital services that specifically cater to the tourism industry, he added.
“Dhiraagu will continue to innovate, inspire and collaborate with our partners to make the most of the digital future,” Mirshan was quoted in the statement, as saying.
The prestigious Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony will take place on Saturday at the five-star Sun Aqua Vilu Reef resort, with hospitality leaders from across the region expected to attend to discover who among them has been voted the pinnacle of the travel industry.
Maldivian Idol hosts Moosa Waseem and Aminath Lamha Latheef – two of the most familiar faces on Maldivian television – will compere the event, which will also allow attendees to get in touch with authentic Maldivian culture through traditional dances such as Bandiya and Maafathi. The main act for the evening will be performed by leading Maldivian singer Unoosha.
Voting for the World Travel Awards Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony closed on May 22.
