Kuredu Island Resort and Spa has named Patrick de Staercke as its new General Manager.
In a statement on Thursday, Kuredu hailed Patrick’s management skills, passion and customer orientation as well as his bright personality, wit and accommodating nature. Those skills and characteristics coupled with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and constant improvement of facilities and services will result in Kuredu maintaining its lead as one of the best-value resorts in the Maldives, it said.
“His professional background and excellent people skills have been a winning mix for bringing all resorts under his management to new heights,” the statement read.
Since arriving in the Maldives in 2006 to serve as the F&B Director at Meeru Island Resort and Spa, Patrick has led the teams at several resorts run by local hotel operator Crown and Champa Resorts. Most recently, the popularity of Komandoo Island Resort and Spa, one of the Maldives’ most romantic resorts, and the outstanding guest feedback that the newly opened Hurawalhi Island Resort and Spa is receiving are examples of Patrick’s determination to exceed bottom line expectations and his drive to attain the best possible performance.
In addition to his extensive experience managing some of the most sought after resorts in the Maldives, the Brit has worked in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Singapore and Thailand with international hotel chains such as InterContinental Hotel Group and Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts.
Located on a 1,800 metre by 325 metre remote island in the northern atoll of Lhaviyani, Kuredu is accessible by a 40-minute scenic seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport. This 4.5-star resort has 383 rooms, including beach and water villas, making it the second largest resort in the Maldives.
Kuredu is one of seven resorts run by Crown and Champa Resorts, a group of resorts owned by some of the pioneers of tourism in the Maldives. Other resorts run by the group include the five-star Komandoo Island Resort and Spa, the 4.5-star Meeru Island Resort and Spa, the five-star Veligandu Island Resort and Spa, the 4.5-star Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa, and the newly opened Hurawalhi Island Resort and Spa and its private island retreat Kudadoo Maldives Private Island by Hurawalhi which is set to open in December.
