Argentine football star Carlos Tevez is holidaying in Maldives.
The Argentine forward, whose recent move to the Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua reportedly made him the highest paid football player in the world, arrived in the Maldives Tuesday evening. He is reportedly staying at a luxury resort in the northern Noonu atoll.
Tevez, who now earns a whopping USD751,345-a-week salary, made his Chinese Super League debut early this month in the first round of the league against Jiangsu Suning. He scored his first goal in the same match, from the penalty spot in the first half in his team’s 4-0 win.
Before his money-spinning deal last December, the 33-year-old footballer played for his boyhood side Boca Juniors. His career highlights include English Premier League clubs such as West Ham United, Manchester United and Manchester City, and Italian league favourites, Juventus.
Maldives is amongst the most sought after destinations by celebrity travellers, including sports personalities. High profile footballers like former England captain David Beckham and his family, and Netherlands’ national team captain Arjen Robben are frequent visitors to the island paradise.
